Colin Ross Parker

Colin was born at Lindfield in 1941 into an Art oriented family, where people in the broader Arts Community came and went into the family home, his Mother being a gifted crafts worker and Father involved in the Family vocation of Art Galleries and picture frame manufacturing.

Colin can recall winning Art competitions at a very young age. He had his first One Man exhibition in 1960 with works in oil depicting realistic landscapes painted plein air about the Harbour and the Hawkesbury He began collecting at age twelve when Ku-ring-gai Council began clean-up services, on walking home from school he rummaged through a heap outside a big house in Cecil Street, Gordon and found a music machine known as an Edison Phonograph with a tea chest of cylinder records which he dragged home, despite the parental protests, and began playing his way through the hundreds of cylinder records! Thus, began a Lifetime of collecting!

Colin has worked as Artist-in-residence at Ayers Rock Resort many times, as well as in Jabiru in Kakadu National Park. He has had many one-man exhibitions, including Sydney, Melbourne, Canada, Spain, the US and the UK and is still painting almost daily.

He has had three portraits hung in the Archibald Prize, has had a landscape hung in the Wynne Prize, and has won First Prize in Sydney's prestigious Royal Easter Show art competitions three times.

His collecting is broad/ eclectic and about the only things HE DOES NOT COLLECT are coins and postage stamps, however he does accidentally have some of those as well!

At almost eighty years of age the time has now come to auction much of the collection to allow others to acquire objects which they may also love.
